Privacy Policy

Overview

The short version

Mise is a Chrome extension that uses AI to group your open browser tabs. To do that, it reads your tab URLs and titles and sends them to an AI provider of your choice. Your API keys are stored locally on your device. We do not operate any servers, collect analytics, or store your data.

Data Collection

What we collect

Mise accesses the following information when you trigger a grouping action:

Tab URL — the full URL of each open tab.
Tab title — the page title of each open tab.
Time since last accessed — a relative timestamp (e.g. "2 hours ago") indicating when each tab was last visited. The exact timestamp is never sent — only a human-readable approximation.
Existing group names and colors — only when the "Preserve Groups" option is enabled. The names and colors of your current tab groups are included so the AI can assign tabs into them.
Custom prompt text — if you enter optional instructions in the prompt field, that text is included in the request.

All of the above is sent directly to your chosen AI provider and is not stored by Mise. Mise does not collect your name, email, location, payment information, browsing history outside of grouping requests, or any other personal information.

API keys — the API keys you provide for Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Groq are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage (chrome.storage.sync). They are never transmitted to any server operated by Mise.

Data Usage

How we use your data

Tab URLs and titles are used solely to generate tab group suggestions via your selected AI provider. This data is sent in a single request each time you click "Group my tabs" or "Preview & edit groups" and is not retained by Mise after the request completes.

Your API keys are used only to authenticate requests to your chosen AI provider on your behalf.

Third Parties

Who your data is shared with

Depending on the AI provider you select, your tab URLs and titles are transmitted to that provider's API. Mise does not control how these providers handle your data — please review their privacy policies directly.

Groq groq.com/privacy-policy — Groq is an inference provider. Mise routes the following models through Groq: Llama 3.3 70B, Llama 3.1 8B, and Llama 4 Scout (owned by Meta), and Qwen 3 32B (owned by Alibaba). Your data may also be subject to the policies of the underlying model owner.

Mise does not share your data with any other third parties, including advertisers or analytics services.

Storage & Security

How your data is stored

API keys are stored on-device using Chrome's chrome.storage.sync. Mise has no backend server and does not transmit your API keys or any other data to any infrastructure operated by Mise.

All communication between Mise and AI providers is made directly from your browser over HTTPS.

Your Rights

Deleting your data

You can remove your stored API keys at any time from within the extension settings. Uninstalling Mise removes all locally stored data.

Changes

Updates to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Mise after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
